If you venture into the desert of Wackelkontakt, you’ll find yourself in an endless loop of improvement and deterioration. The multi-faceted workshop-experiment-performance presented by Wackelkontakt at Autumn Cult 2021 returns to the space where it was born. After three years of shape-and-medium-shifting, the members of the audiovisual trio once again turn their thoughtful gaze towards the horizon of their ongoing research on encounters between fractured identity, self-transformation processes, the split between the sensory and the conscious, and power relationships between performers, audience, and space.
The event, four hours long, is open to a limited group of participants who will practice together a sequence of tension and relaxation techniques in the “Loose Contact” method. The method is the product of Wackelkontakt’s creative research, at its core the practice of states of mental focus, physical presence, listening, and release under intense lighting and sound conditions,.
Wackelkontakt is the trio of Marco Milevski Tomasin (drums and electronics), Eyal Lally Bitton (visuals and electronics), and Tomer Damsky (vocals and electronics). In addition to being an industrial-pop band, they also create site-specific events, sound installations, and stage works, and design sound, lighting, and space for dance and theater. Wackelkontakt uses sensory overload, social dissonance, and an obsessive array of technical means to communicate with each other, the audience, and the world. The group has performed and exhibited at festivals, clubs, stages, and galleries across the Western world.
